From Tampa, FL to Saint-Pierre & Miquelonhttp://mapq.st/nx3nAV

Welcome to our road trip! I will be sharing my experiences.  You can also check out some photos from the trip here: http://www.tripcolor.com/user/4060/trip/38a021a1-f765-4a84-8107-8fdf7dac16d7#spot-16559

We are looking forward to our road trip coming up next weekend. It’s been fun planning it, figuring out ferry times and drive times to coordinate with picking up the ferry to the island it’s self Saint-Pierre & Miquelon. Since we are going mid to late September when some of the ferry schedules change has been interesting. Our initial goal was to take the ferry from North Sydney, Nova Scotia to Argentia then to Saint-Pierre & Miquelon. But that is only a seasonal trek and didn’t fit in with our ferry times (which are limited) to Saint-Pierre & Miquelon. So we’ll be taking the main ferry from North Sydney to Channel-Port Aux Basques and driving across Newfoundland to Fortune then taking the ferry to Saint-Pierre & Miquelon.

Tuesday: On our way to Canada and listening to WZON – Thank you Stephen King

Wednesday: We have finally made it to North Sydney, Nova Scotia.  We took Route 4 instead of the Trans Canadian Highway 105. FYI a lot of road construction.  So that was fun.

Lots of road construction on Route 4, Cape Brenton, Nova Scotia (glad we didn't drive this at night!!!)

We are onboard the Highlanders Ferry to Newfoundland. Should be a 6 hour ride to Port Aux Basques. The ferry is beautiful and has a cafe, restaurant & Internet cafe. The seats are nice and plush and have USB & headphone ports. Lots of TV’s to choose to watch. Looking forward to a great trip!

Another thing to watch for.... MOOSE!!!

More to come…….

Dog Friendly Tampa Bay

The weather here in the Tampa Bay area will start to get cooler towards the end of October and that means taking the fur-children out on the town!  Tampa Bay area is very dog friendly and has quite a few websites for great pooch information.

(Call restaurants first to verify they are still pet friendly.)  If it’s hot for you to sit outside, then it’s too hot for your dog.

The cooler months are coming…. just be a little patient and the fur-kids will love you for it!

Let’s EAT!

Happy Birthday Freddie!

Bangor, Maine – Best-selling horror author Stephen King has decided to offer an alternative to the local Maine right-wing radio talk shows. He held a press conference in Bangor, ME Tuesday (Aug. 22) to announce his new left-leaning radio program.

“We’re a little to the left, but we’re right,” the bestselling horror author said at a rare press conference announcing the new show. To be hosted by Pat LaMarche, a Green party vice-presidential candidate in 2004, and former reporter Don Cookson, The Pulse Morning Show will air on the King-owned radio stations WZON 103.1 FM and 620 AM from 12 September on weekday mornings and online at zoneradio.com.

“We’re going to try to be informative. We’re going to be provocative. We’re going to be amusing, and we’re going to try to be a positive community force,” King told reporters at the press conference, according to local paper the Bangor Daily News.  King said the show would balance the conservative leanings of other stations in Maine.

Ticketmaster, the event ticketing property of Live Nation, is enhancing its interactive seat maps Tuesday so that ticket buyers and event-goers can see where their Facebookfriends are sitting and tag themselves into their seats.

With the upgrade, Facebook members can now connect their accounts to view a Facebook-infused event seat map that highlights where friends are sitting with miniature Facebook flags.

The feature is live for more than 9,000 events on Ticketmaster and Live Nation sites.

The idea, says Ticketmaster executive vice president of ecommerce Kip Levin, is to return the ticket-buying experience to its pre-web social origins. “Online took away from the old experience of going down to the record store to purchase tickets,” he says. “This is a way to go back to that.”

The interactive seat maps experience is now designed to help Facebook users see where their friends are sitting, purchase nearby tickets, tag themselves into their seats, nudge their Facebook friends to do the same and share their seats with friends on Facebook.

Redistricting Hearing

Where are the MAPS?

What to Do: Sign up to speak via the Florida House Website or the Florida Senate Website. You must do this in advance!

Where to Be: Jefferson High School, 4401 West Cypress Street, Tampa, Florida 33607

When to be There: Monday, 29 August at 4:00 PM

What to Say: Emphasize the following points: (1) Where are the maps? Why are we being asked to comment on something that doesn’t exist? (2) These hearings feel like a sham. How much are they costing Florida taxpayers? (3) Amendments 5 and 6 made clear voters’ expectations. We expect you to draw districts accordingly. (4) We strongly oppose the practice of tying up taxpayer money to fight lawsuits. We demand the expeditious drawing of fair, non-partisan election districts. Other states-many of them large states-are already finished with this task. You are not fooling us with your foot-dragging. We are watching you carefully. Put a stop to these fake hearings on which you’ve seen fit to expend our tax dollars, draw fair districts NOW, and then get to work on job creation.

Here’s the latest news from the Hillsborough County DEC!

What to do Afterward:   Join Party members for a Social Hour at the Double Tree Hotel – Players Bar located at 4500 West Cypress Street, across the street from Jefferson High School. The Social hour will start immediately following the meeting at approximately 8:00 PM

The Tea Party reveled in the satisfaction of knowing they had dramatically brought Washington to its knees.  For the full story: http://tinyurl.com/3beybjq

Take a look at your 401k and let me know how much you ‘like’ the Tea Party.  I just hope folks wake up by the next election and vote for folks who have a ‘D’ next to their name instead of ‘R’

Watch out for terrorist like these….

The economy was hijacked by these folks...
